God is for God Sermon – Matt Chandler

Here is a sermon from Matt Chandler that is worth your time!  According to the youtube link, this message was censored by the church where it was preached.  Not sure what all that is about – but the title of the sermon is:  God is for God (based on Psalm 23).  One of my favorite lines from this sermon:  “Don’t feather Jesus’ hair – alright?  You’ll bow or you’ll bow.”  Enjoy this God-centered, powerful sermon by pastor and recovering brain cancer survivor, Matt Chandler.

A Shadow of Things to Come

Matt Chandler urges us to see the purpose for the law and the need for sacrifice.

Matt Chandler – Slavery and the Skeptic

Nate mentioned this morning about a sermon preached by Matt Chandler in August 2010 on slavery and it’s content in the Bible.  I recommend it for the person who really wants to delve into both the historical and Biblical application.  Part of his aim is to entice skeptics and agnostics to give the Bible a chance despite the picture of slavery Scripture portrays.  He even states that no where in Scripture will you find a passage condemning slavery.  I encourage you to listen with an open mind and open Bible.

Here is the link to his sermon.

Jesus Wants the Rose!

For those of you who don’t know Matt Chandler, he was the preaching pastor at The Village Church outside of Dallas, TX.  This past winter, Matt was diagnosed with brain cancer and had surgery to remove a malignant tumor in his head.  While the doctors removed most of the tumor, they could not remove it all.  Please pray for Matt and his family as you watch this video.

This past summer I got to listen to a number of his sermons, including this one Kim recommended I post.  As you will be able to see, Matt has a real passion for the glory of the gospel of Jesus.  Here are the two verses he references in his talk:

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8
